Jaicharan Iyengar, MD is a nationally-recognized specialist in orthopaedic surgery with focus on treatment of the shoulder and elbow. He is the founder of the Stockton Shoulder Institute at Alpine Orthopaedics. He has served as the Head Team Physician to the Stockton Ports baseball team (Oakland A’s Class-A Affiliate) and the University of Pacific Tigers Division I collegiate athletics since 2013. He serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Touro University College of Medicine. He was recognized as a “Top Doctor” in California by the International Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Clinical & Research Interests
Dr. Iyengar’s clinical focus includes sports medicine/arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, total shoulder replacement, shoulder instability, shoulder/elbow ligament reconstruction, and upper extremity fracture care. He has extensive clinical experience and has performed more than 1,000 successful arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow and knee. Dr. Iyengar has published numerous scientific articles and delivered presentations on rotator cuff repair, reverse shoulder replacement, frozen shoulder, shoulder instability and fractures/trauma of the shoulder and elbow. He has authored book chapters on minimally-invasive rotator cuff repair technique and elbow ulnar collateral ligament (“Tommy John”) surgery. He has a special interest in injury prevention and treatment of the throwing athlete.
