Upper Extremity Specialist
Dr. Lin is a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon at Alpine Orthopedics. He evaluates and treats all orthopedic conditions but specializes in injuries and chronic conditions of hand, wrist and elbow. He is especially interested in preserving and restoring function to the upper extremity.

Education, Training and Research
Dr. Lin grew up in the Bay Area and enjoys visiting his family at different areas of Northern California. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from UC Davis, he received a combined MD and PhD degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. He then performed orthopaedic residency at UC Irvine. Following residency, Dr. Lin completed a hand, microsurgery and upper extremity fellowship from Harvard Medical School at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Lin is a clinician scientist and has an extensive research background in neuroscience. He has published many peer reviewed basic science articles and has authored several book chapters on nerve compression injury and wrist fractures. Dr. Lin has received numerous awards for deepening the understanding of the pathophysiology of peripheral neuropathy and the neurobiology of nerve regeneration. These include Viet’s Research Grant from the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, Lloyd Taylor Award from the Western Orthopaedic Association, and the Orthopaedic Hospital Award from the California Orthopaedic Association.
Membership and Certification
Dr. Lin is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and is a board-eligible diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). He holds eligibility for a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Hand Surgery.
Personal Interests
Dr. Lin enjoys photography, painting, home improvement, and traveling. On weekends he and his son enjoy golfing, tennis and fishing.
